Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a restful two weeks and is excited to get back to learning new and exciting science concepts! If you didn’t check your school supplies over the break, please check to be sure you have plenty of paper, pencils, red pens, colored pencils, etc.

Mon. 1/5 CW: Following written directions. Remember to read ALL directions before beginning, & begin stars – chp. 10. Watch Magic School Bus on stars – you should know what a star is made of, how long stars take to form, how old a yellow star like our sun is, & what a red supergiant star is. HW: check to be sure you have needed school supplies. GO GET THEM if you don’t. (2) workbook pp. 78-81 chp. 10 section 1 due Wednesday.

Tues. 1/6 CW: Following written directions – go over yesterday’s sheet & continue with stars. HW: check to be sure you have needed school supplies. GO GET THEM if you don’t. (2) workbook pp. 78-81 chp. 10 section 1 due tomorrow.

Wed. 1/7 CW: (1) check homework (2) read 273-277 (3) write constellation story – directions are on the white board in my room (4) worksheet on H-R diagram (5) wkbk. pp. 81-83 # 1-15 all – do for homework if you don’t finish in class HW: wkbk. pp. 81-83 # 1-15 all – do for homework if you don’t finish in class

Thurs. 1/8 CW: (1) Go over 2 answers from Tues. night (2) check wb. pp. 81-83 (3) read & discuss about different types of galaxies lesson 3 pp. 278-281 (4) finish constellation story (5) do wkbk. pp. 83-84 finish for hw if you didn’t in class (6) H-R diagram work sheet can finish tomorrow in class HW: do wkbk. pp. 83-84 finish for hw if you didn’t in class and have you bought whatever school supplies you had previously run out of – paper, pencils, pens, erasers, colored pencils, etc.

Fri. 1/9 CW: (1) Read p. 282  (2) Complete H-R diagram sheet (3) Complete puzzle review sheet (4) begin thinking about an experiment you’d like to complete on your own at home – it CAN’T be (1) one we’ve done in class, (2) one you’ve already done before, (3) or seeing which brand of product is better than another. (4) Paper work on science fair deadlines will come home on Monday  HW: think about an experiment you’d like to complete at home.  There are all kind of experiments in the back of your science book if you don’t find anything in other places.  Paper work on science fair deadlines will come home on Monday
