May 18th – May 22nd

General News: (1) All textbooks should be at school. IF you haven’t returned them, please bring them now or you will be fined for a lost textbook. (2) Backpacks go home Friday & don’t come back. (3) Wear closed toe shoes all week long. We will be doing a couple of labs & I’m not sure which day. It WON’T be Thursday due to the honors assembly.

Science 5/18 – 5/22

Mon. 5/18 CW: (1) Finish posters & present them (2) Class A got to do the lab on mirrors. HW: wear closed toe shoes this week

Tues. 5/19 CW: (1) Light Technology pp. 530-535 – cameras, lasers, holograms, fiber optics & polarized lenses.  (2) laser & hologram demonstrations – Wasn’t the pig cool?  (3) Bill Nye DVD on Light Optics (4) wkbk. pp. 156-158 over this lesson graded for accuracy  HW: wear closed toe shoes

Wed. 5/20 CW: (1) Mirror lab (2) finish & check wb pp. 156-158  HW: Awards ceremony tomorrow.  Dress nicely if you are receiving an award

Thur. 5/21 CW: (1) Review vocabulary puzzle for chp. 18  HW: wear closed toe shoes

Fri. 5/22 CW: (1) Finish vocab. puzzle  (2)  Science World (3) Clean out lockers HW: no backpacks next week Monday is a holiday.  Tuesday & Wednesday the last days of school will be filled with lots of written work.

May 11 – 15

ALL textbooks must be at school by Friday.  Start looking at home for your English & math textbooks!

SUGGESTION FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR: Please wear tennis shoes or other closed toe shoes for the rest of the year. We have several students & teachers get their toes injured. Kids are a little excited at the end of the year and not paying as close attention to where their feet are. We wouldn’t like to see any more toes hurt

General News: Field Day is on Wednesday from 9:40 – 11:05. We participate by team one class against another. Be sure you wear tennis shoes on Wednesday.

Science 5/11 – 5/15

Mon. 5/11 CW: (1) Work on biome project. Any student not capable of working on a biome project in a cooperative group will be assigned to copy the biome information from the book. 25% of the grade is the ability to work cooperatively in the lab group. HW: (1) bring posters, information, & colored pictures for your biome to use in class (2) definitions with colored pictures and each word used in a sentence for chp. 18 are due Wed. The only people exempt from this assignment are the ones who took the 76 Think Link question test at home right before TCAP. I still have those tests & have reminded those students who they are.

Tues. 5/12 CW: (1) Working on biome projects in lab groups. Be sure you bring in your pictures and information from home if you need them. HW: FIELD DAY IS TOMORROW – WEAR TENNIS SHOES (2) efinitions with colored pictures and each word used in a sentence for chp. 18 are due Wed. The only people exempt from this assignment are the ones who took the 76 Think Link question test at home right before TCAP. I still have those tests & have reminded those students who they are.

Wed. 5/13 CW: FIELD DAY HW: Be sure you have what your group needs (posters, information, pictures, colors, etc.) to put together your posters tomorrow

General Information: Remember Math-A-Thon donations are due Friday. If each person on our team helps, we can reach our goal of $2,100 for the kids at St. Jude’s. Your teachers have some great plans in store for you if we reach our goal!

Science 5/4 – 5/8

Mon. 5/4 CW: (1) complete lab analysis & results p. 575 # 5-9 & write your conclusion all in your lab group (2) group competition (3) complete vocabulary sheet HW: test tomorrow chp. 17 all – study

Tues. 5/5 CW: (1) Test (2) Science World HW: none

Wed. 5/6 CW (1) Finish all tests, puzzle sheets, Science World sheets, & begin on eye HW: It’s Random Acts of Kindness Week – do something nice for every person in your house without being asked or telling them why you are doing it.

Thurs. 5/7 CW: (1) Take a look at chp. 18 lesson 3 about parts of the eye, near & far sightedness, & color blindness (2) In your lab group create a skit, poem, song, or combination of these to present to the class about the parts of the eye (3) wkbk. pp. 155-156 about the eye HW: definitions for chp. 18 – words, definitions, colored pictures, & using each word in a sentence is due next Wednesday.

Fri. 5/8 CW: (1) Go over test chp. 17  (2) with lab group do lessons 1 & 2 chp. 18 & workbook pp. 151-156 lessons 1-3  (3) group biome project handed out, reviewed, & biomes assigned.  Students will work in class next Mon. – Thurs. (Wed. is Field Day). & present biomes on Fri.  This is the last test/project grade for this nine weeks.  We will still have daily, quiz, hw, & lab grades.  HW: definitions for chp. 18 – words, definitions, colored pictures, & using each word in a sentence is due next Wednesday.
